Rise Above Like the Eagle: A Call to Soar Higher in Faith

Have you ever watched an eagle soar through the sky? There’s something breathtaking about how effortlessly it glides, riding the wind currents with confidence and grace. But what we often miss is the struggle it took for that eagle to get there.

Eagles don’t just magically appear high in the sky. They must work to reach those heights. With powerful, determined flaps, they climb until they catch the strong wind currents that carry them higher. And even then, their flight isn’t free from adversity.

The Crow’s Attack: A Picture of Adversity

One of the eagle’s greatest aerial adversaries is the crow. Have you ever seen a crow relentlessly dive-bombing an eagle, tugging at its feathers, or darting erratically to disrupt its path? The crow is a nuisance, doing everything it can to distract and harass.

But here’s the fascinating part: The eagle doesn’t waste time fighting back. It doesn’t flap wildly or try to outmaneuver the crow. Instead, it keeps ascending—higher and higher until it reaches altitudes the crow simply cannot handle. The air becomes too thin for the crow, and eventually, it gives up and falls away. Meanwhile, the eagle continues to soar freely.

Soaring Above Our Struggles

This is a powerful picture of how we, as believers, are called to face adversity. Scripture says:

“But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.”

— Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

Like the eagle, we are not called to fight every distraction, every insult, or every attack that comes our way. Instead, we rise above. We ascend to heights where the enemy’s schemes can’t reach us.

Jesus modeled this perfectly. When He was mocked, accused, and ultimately crucified, He didn’t retaliate. He entrusted Himself to God’s plan (1 Peter 2:23). That’s true spiritual strength—not lashing out but staying focused on the mission God has given us.

Your Spiritual Position

Ephesians 2:6 tells us that God has “raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms.” Spiritually, you are already positioned above the chaos of this world! The challenge is choosing to live like it—refusing to be dragged into petty fights, distractions, and fear.

What if instead of reacting to every “crow” in your life, you decided to simply rise higher?

The Call to Action: Rise Today

So here’s your challenge:

What “crows” are trying to pull you down? Fear? Doubt? Gossip? Criticism? Temptation? Are you exhausted from trying to fight every battle on your own strength?

It’s time to rise.

Rise in prayer.

Rise in worship.

Rise by holding onto God’s Word as your anchor.

Rise by choosing holiness over compromise, faith over fear, and purpose over distraction.

Just like the eagle, your adversary cannot survive at the spiritual heights God has designed for you. When you choose to live above offense, above fear, and above worldly distractions, those attacks lose their power.

Today, make the decision to soar. Trust God to renew your strength, and let Him carry you above the chaos. You were created for greater heights than the enemy’s schemes.

Will you rise?
