“Where’s My Reward, God?” – A Real-Life Encounter with God’s Presence and Power

Have you ever sat in silence, heart heavy, and asked God, “Where is the reward for all the pain I’ve gone through?” Maybe, like me, you’ve asked more than once. Days or even weeks go by and still—no clear answer. And again, you cry out, “God, where’s the breakthrough You promised?”

But here’s the hard question I had to ask myself—and maybe you do too:
Have I truly followed all the steps God has asked me to take?
Have I trusted Him in every decision along the way to receive the promise?

A Holy Encounter

One Sunday, as we were receiving communion at church, I experienced something I will never forget. As I held the bread representing Jesus’ body, I felt a warmth start in my hand and move slowly up my arm to my head. After the warmth came a cooling, calming sensation. In that moment, I knew—I was in the presence of the Lord.

Tears welled up in my eyes.
And then I heard Him—softly, clearly:
“Your reward is coming. You’re doing the right thing.”

This wasn’t just a nice moment. It was confirmation. It reminded me of this promise in Hebrews 10:35-36 (NIV):

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

The Struggles We Faced

My wife and I have been through a lot over the past few years. Not between each other, but from the hands of people we trusted—workplace leaders, friends, even people in church circles. There was emotional and spiritual harm. We tried to carry the weight ourselves, but every time we stood up, we felt knocked down again. We were out of strength, out of hope, and gasping for air.

Finally, I turned to God in desperation—not just for myself, but for my wife and family. I wanted answers. I wanted protection. I even prayed for a personal encounter with God for my wife, hoping it would renew her heart.

But instead, God encountered me.

The Vision

It happened one night while lying in bed during a trip to Dallas, Texas. I wasn’t fully asleep or fully awake, and suddenly I saw myself in a medieval armory. All around me were strong warriors—at least a dozen—clanging swords, tightening armor, preparing for war. And as my eyes adjusted, I realized they were angels.

One turned to me and said:
“We’re here to fight alongside you.”

Then they began suiting me up—helping me put on armor, pick up a shield and a sword.
And just like that, the vision ended.

The Interpretation

When I woke up, I wrote everything down immediately. Later I shared it with two people I deeply trust in spiritual matters—my mother and a strong man of God I know.
Independently, they confirmed the same interpretation:

God has assigned angels to fight for me and with me. He is preparing me for spiritual battle. He has given me His armor and weaponry to win this fight—not in fear, but in victory.

It reminded me of Ephesians 6:10-11 (NIV):

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

God wasn’t just giving me hope—He was equipping me.

Living Out the Battle

After that dream, everything changed in my spirit. Did the battles disappear overnight? No. But I began walking differently. I began fighting differently. I realized this wasn’t a call to retreat—it was a call to stand firm and trust in God’s protection and provision.

I watched how God brought little victories—small wins that started changing the bigger picture. When I trusted Him, things that used to overwhelm me didn’t anymore. I saw situations shift, hearts soften, and provision come in ways I didn’t expect.

As it says in 2 Chronicles 20:17 (NIV):

“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you.”

A Word for You

I don’t know your battle. I don’t know your pain. But I know this:

God sees it. God is in it. And He is preparing your reward.

If you feel like you’re drowning under the weight of life and wondering if God has forgotten you, let me encourage you: He hasn’t.

But ask yourself:

  • Have I fully obeyed His voice?
  • Have I surrendered control?
  • Have I worn the armor He’s given me?

Call to Action:

Here’s the challenge—Seek God like never before.

Don’t just ask for His promises; ask to know His presence.
Don’t just want the reward; walk the road that leads to it.

Pursue Him with your whole heart. Cry out. Listen. Obey.
And trust that He will meet you there.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)

My challenge to you today is this:
Ask God for an encounter. Ask Him to meet you where you are.
Write it down. Watch for how He shows up. And don’t forget—you’re not fighting alone.

He has already equipped you for victory.
Now it’s time to walk in it.
