Have you ever found yourself wondering, “Do I have what it takes?” Maybe you were stepping into a new job, navigating a family crisis, or facing a spiritual challenge that felt far beyond your capacity. If we’re honest, most of us have asked this question at least once—often in the quiet, pressure-filled moments of life when everything feels uncertain.
But what if we’re asking the wrong question?
As followers of Christ, we are not meant to rely on our own strength. We were never designed to carry the full weight of life on our shoulders. The truth is, we are empowered by something far greater—God’s strength working in and through us. So the question isn’t, “Do I have what it takes?” but rather, “Do I believe that God does?”
And the answer is always yes. He always has what it takes.
In our humanity, we often default to self-reliance. When trials come, we instinctively brace ourselves and try to carry the load alone. This is where doubt creeps in. We ask ourselves, “Can I really do this? Am I strong enough? Am I capable?” But these questions stem from the false belief that our strength must come from within us alone.
Scripture reminds us of a better truth. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The Apostle Paul wasn’t boasting about his own power or ability—he was pointing to the unshakable strength of Jesus Christ within him. This strength wasn’t about achieving personal goals or impressing others. It was about enduring hardship, staying faithful, and walking in obedience to the calling of God.
This verse doesn’t mean that God will empower us to pursue selfish ambitions or make our every whim successful. It means that He will equip us to do everything He has called us to do. His strength is for His purpose—and when we align our hearts with His will, nothing is impossible.
So the next time you’re overwhelmed, stop and shift your focus. Don’t ask yourself, “Do I have what it takes?” Instead, declare with confidence, “God, You have what it takes—and I trust You to work through me.”
You are not alone. You are not powerless. And you are certainly not expected to do life by your own strength.
Let this be your encouragement today: Lean into the strength of Christ. Lay down your doubts, pick up your faith, and walk boldly in the calling God has placed on your life.
👉 Take a moment right now to pray. Surrender your fears, your burdens, and your uncertainties. Ask God to fill you with His strength and to remind you that He has what it takes—and He’s chosen to place that power within you. You don’t walk alone. Walk in His strength today.
