Give it all to God: a daily challenge

We often hear the phrase “Give it all to God” in church, Bible studies, and sermons as a key part of our faith journey. But have you ever taken a step back and truly examined whether you are actually surrendering everything to Him?

This was a powerful revelation for me when I began evaluating what I was offering to God daily. So often, we give Him our burdens, frustrations, and struggles—we surrender the hard stuff because we know we can’t handle it alone. But what about the easy things? The joyful moments? The routine, everyday aspects of life? Why do we so often reserve those for ourselves?

The Main Question: How Much Are You Truly Giving to God?

Deuteronomy 6:5 (NLT) commands us:
“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”

This verse isn’t just about an emotional or verbal declaration of love for God—it’s a call to surrender our entire being. Let’s break it down:
• Loving God with all your heart means surrendering your deepest thoughts, desires, and affections to Him. Every dream, every hope, and even every fear should be placed in His hands.
• Loving God with all your soul means worshiping Him wholeheartedly, giving Him your praise, your devotion, and your trust in all circumstances.
• Loving God with all your strength means honoring Him with your physical body, actions, and decisions. It means living in a way that reflects His will, not just when life is hard, but in every moment.

This verse alone calls us to complete surrender, yet so often, we pick and choose what we give to God.

Surrendering Your Whole Self

Romans 12:1 urges us:
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.”

This isn’t just about giving God our brokenness when we are weak or in need. It’s about offering our whole selves—our strengths, talents, energy, and health—as a living sacrifice every day. Are you honoring God in both your moments of weakness and your moments of strength? Are you giving Him control over your body, your habits, and your lifestyle?

Jesus also calls us to daily surrender in Luke 9:23:
“If any of you wants to be My follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow Me.”

Carrying our cross daily requires complete surrender. We cannot fully follow Christ while clinging to parts of our lives that we refuse to place in His hands.

A Challenge for the Week

This week, I challenge you to give everything to God—every single day. Not just the struggles, but also the victories. Not just the pain, but also the joy. Surrender your plans, your health, your work, your relationships, and your thoughts. When you wake up in the morning, dedicate the day to Him. When you experience blessings, acknowledge that they come from Him. When you face trials, trust Him with the outcome.

But I want to take this challenge a step further.

I challenge you to take an honest inventory of your heart and ask yourself:
• What areas of my life have I been withholding from God?
• Is there something I am trying to control instead of trusting Him with?
• Am I truly living as a living sacrifice, or am I only giving God what is convenient for me?

This is not just about a one-time act of surrender. This is about a transformation—a shift in the way you live, think, and trust God. Giving everything to God means letting go of worry, releasing control, and walking forward in faith even when you don’t understand the outcome.

So today, I encourage you to pray boldly:

“Lord, I surrender everything to You. Not just the parts I struggle with, but every part of my life. I give You my hopes, my plans, my desires, my fears, and my victories. Teach me to trust You fully, to love You with all my heart, soul, and strength, and to walk in obedience every day. I lay it all at Your feet. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Will you take this challenge seriously? Will you step into a deeper level of surrender and trust? Let this be the week that changes everything—the week you stop holding back and start walking fully in God’s plan for your life.
