Are You Following God’s Plan or Your Own?
Have you ever found yourself sitting quietly, reflecting on your life, and realizing it’s not going the way you’d hoped? Maybe you haven’t achieved what you set out to do, or the plans you made seem completely out of reach. I’ve been there. For years, I chased my own dreams and desires, only to find frustration and disappointment. But let me share my journey with you—because it taught me a life-changing lesson.
My Story
I grew up in a Christian home with parents who loved me deeply. My mom battled illness throughout her life, yet even in her struggles, her love shone through. Despite this foundation of faith, I wrestled with worldly temptations and gave in to many of them.
In my early teens, I felt a clear call from God into ministry. But that didn’t align with my plans. I wanted to live life my way, and ministry didn’t fit into that picture. For the next 15 years, I pursued my own path, making decisions I thought would bring happiness. Instead, they only brought pain—not just to me but to those around me.
I followed fleeting desires: partying, unhealthy relationships, and chasing things I thought would fulfill me. But the emptiness grew deeper, and the weight of my choices left me drained, physically and emotionally. I was lost.
The Turning Point
At my lowest point, when I felt I had nothing left to give, God spoke to me. He didn’t condemn or shame me but gently reminded me of the plan He had for my life—a plan far better than the one I was stubbornly clinging to.
For a while, I resisted. I thought, Ministry isn’t for me. I can’t serve God and have the life I want. But as I kept trying to push forward on my own, I burned out completely. Finally, when I had nothing left, I surrendered to God’s plan. And everything began to change.
God’s Promises Are True
Jeremiah 29:11 has become a cornerstone in my life:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
This verse is a vivid reminder that while my plans brought pain and confusion, God’s plans brought hope and restoration. When I gave up control and trusted Him, my life turned around completely. Today, I serve on staff at my church and work with a global Christian organization, helping to share the Gospel with people around the world.
